Field Service Manager


This Job Description establishes and describes the authority, duties, responsibilities, reporting relationships and measure of accomplishment for the functional position of the Fleet Services Manager of the Crossroads Mobile Maintenance Company as assigned to that function by the Divisional Vice-President. This position is considered a salary position, the job requirements and your performance, will dictate the required hours to complete the necessary tasks.


The Field Service Manager will maintain Crossroads Mobile Maintenance’s strong focus on creating a culture of safety, integrity, passion and intelligence.

The primary function and focus of Field Service Department is to lead and manage the hands-on maintenance and repairs of utility fleet vehicles and equipment scheduled for work through the CRMM Asset Repair Administration Process, respond to emergency related needs in an efficient and effective manner. 

The Field Service Manager, will be responsible for Fleet Customer Support & Scheduling Division to ensure a seamless process of work scheduling and work accomplishment relating to established performance metrics

The Field Service Manager will be responsible to administrate and coordinate the necessary planning, organization, direction, and control of resources to meet the operational goals of the company. The Field Manager will maintain Crossroads Mobile Maintenance’s strong focus on creating a culture of safety, integrity, passion, and intelligence


The Field Service Manager receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to, the Divisional Vice-President for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities.

The Field Services Manager has the authority to approve necessary purchases to manage and administer all operational affairs within the Crossroads Mobile Maintenance Company’s established guidelines.

The Field Services Manager has the authority, within established company guideline, to hire, fire, promote, demote or discipline those key individuals reporting directly to this position and direct these individuals to do the same with any subordinates.

The Field Service Manager has the authority to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of this position so long as such action does not deviate from established company policies and is consistent with sound business judgment.                                                       

Field Service Manager Job Description


  • At least 5 years’ supervisory experience
  • Associate’s Degree in Heavy Equipment Technology or Technical trade school certificate, however, extensive managerial experience may substitute.
  • Chauffer’s license and a clean driving record
  • Basic computer skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent


  • Experienced / Certified Master Technician in auto and truck fields. (Automotive fleet manager certification is preferred.)
  • Hydraulic trouble shooting experience
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Past field service technician experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Dependent on the state you live in, certifications to preform repairs
  • Chauffer’s license and DOT medical card and a clean driving record
  • Bachelor's Degree in Heavy Equipment Technology or related field preferred; however, extensive managerial experience may substitute.


The principle duties and responsibilities of the Field Service Manager consist of but are not limited to, the following:

Leads the Field Service Technicians, Field Service Writer & Scheduler to ensure a complimentary and cohesive process of vehicle and equipment repairs, rapid turnaround of vehicles and equipment, and quality assurance / quality control procedures are in place and functioning properly.

  1. Provides both remote and direct supervision of the Field Operations including the field service technicians and service trucks.
  2. The Field Service Manager must maintain harmonious relationships with company employees, customers, Contractors, Owners, and other individuals associated with ongoing business.
  3. Must have the ability to learn and establish departmental policies, procedures, and practices.
  4. Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to interact and communicate with internal / external customers and vendors.
  5. Must be able to prioritize workload and shift work activities in order to meet business needs and department goals.
  6. Possesses the ability to independently arrange and organize work efforts on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. Works well under stress and maintains tight deadlines.
  7. Possesses the ability to multi-task on a consistent basis. Able to conceptualize and implement performance objectives that meet established requirements. Able to demonstrate a high degree of personal and professional ethics and integrity 


 Must be willing to attend all required training

  1. Observe and comply with government, CRMM, and our customers’ safety and security standards.
  2. Act as a representative of CRMM and perform work in a professional manner.
