Field Service Writer/Scheduler Level 2 - MI


This Job Description establishes and describes the basic function, reporting relationships, duties, responsibilities and education/experience requirements for the functional position of the Field Service Writer/Scheduler Level 2 of Crossroads Mobile Maintenance (CRMM) as assigned to that function by the Field Service Manager. This position is considered an hourly position, the job requirements and your performance will dictate the required hours to complete the necessary tasks with possible overtime requirements per week. All overtime work shall be approved prior to performing outside of the regular pay.


The Field Service Writer/Scheduler is the liaison between CRMM and the customer, ensuring that a customer’s needs are being met. The Field Writer/Scheduler will maintain Crossroads Mobile Maintenance’s strong focus on creating a culture of safety, integrity, passion, and intelligence.

The primary function and focus of CRMM is to facilitate Utility Asset Preventive Maintenance Program Development and Administration, Utility Truck and Equipment Parts Sales, Utility Asset Design, Fabrication and Up-fit, Utility Transport Service and Utility Service and Safety Training.


The Field Service Writer/Scheduler receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to, the Field Service Manager for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities.

The Field Service Writer/Scheduler must maintain harmonious relationships with company employees, Customers, Contractors, Owners, and other individuals associated with ongoing business.

Field Service Writer/Scheduler Level 2 Job Qualifications


  1. Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar field
  2. 3-5 year’s knowledge of Class 1-8 Trucks, Trailers, Aerial equipment, and Construction equipment
  3. A valid Chauffeur’s License
  4. Basic computer skills with working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite and familiarity with Dealer Management Software (DMS)
  5. High School diploma or equivalent
  6. Superior Customer Service Skills
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills


  1. Service Technician experience
  2. Associate’s Degree or Technical Trade School Certificate
  3. Bachelor’s Degree with Business background
  4. CDL Class A Driver’s License


The principle duties and responsibilities of the Field Service Writer/Scheduler consist of but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Communicate with customers from initial contact all through completion of repairs and maintenance, always ensuring that customers’ expectations are not just met but exceeded
  2. Knowledge of all aspects of the maintenance contract between CRMM and any customer
  3. Ability to read and understand blue prints and schematics
  4. Test operation of completed units
  5. Must be willing to attend all required training
  6. Observe and comply with government, CRMM, and our customers’ safety and security standards
  7. Assigning jobs to the proper technician that meets their capabilities and training to ensure that highest quality of work is delivered.
  8. Must be able to schedule and maintain workload for field service technicians
  9. Create service orders in DMS
  10. Verify job status with technicians
  11. Communicate quotes and job status with customers
  12. Invoice customer service orders
  13. Capable of working without constant supervision
  14. Communicate with your supervisor and technicians on a daily basis or as needed
  15. Act as a representative of CRMM and perform work in a professional manner
  16. Must be able to work varied hours including evenings and weekends as necessary to complete tasks
