This Job Description establishes and describes the basic function, reporting relationships, duties, responsibilities and education / experience requirements for the functional position of the General Manager of Crossroads Mobile Maintenance as assigned to that function by the Divisional Vice-President. This position is considered a salary position, the job requirements and your performance, will dictate the required hours to complete the necessary tasks with a minimum of 40 hours per week.




The General Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating all activities of the Williamsburg, Iowa operation. Managing and attaining required business outcomes within areas of responsibility by ensuring the effectiveness in leadership and implementation of business plans. Financial and operational goals are accomplished personally or through subordinate managers with a strong focus on creating a culture of safety, integrity, passion and intelligence.

The primary function and focus of CRMM is to facilitate Utility Asset Preventive Maintenance Program Development and Administration, Utility Truck & Equipment Parts Sales, Utility Asset Design, Fabrication & Up-Fit, Utility Transport Service and Utility Service & Safety Training.


The General Manager will administrator and coordinate, provide the necessary planning, organization, direction, and control of resources to meet the operational goals of CRMM.




The General Manager receives sufficient authority from, and is accountable to, the Divisional Vice-President for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities.


The General Manager leads the Shop Service Department Staff, Parts Department Staff and Field Service Department to ensure a complimentary and cohesive process of vehicle and equipment repairs, rapid turnaround of vehicles and equipment, and quality assurance / quality control procedures are in place and functioning properly.


The General Manager must maintain harmonious relationships with company employees, Customers, Contractors, Owners, and other individuals associated with ongoing business.





The principal duties and responsibilities of the General Manager consist of, but are not limited to, the following:


  1. Provide leadership as is defined and will be measured as the clear ability to guide, direct and positively influence people to work effectively and productively to achieve the company's mission statement, cultural principles, and affirmative customer service while enhancing profit for the shareholders.
  2. Maintain effective means of control of the business outcomes and customer service reputation of the location through personal oversight and involvement to coordinate the business within the location and by effectively working with subordinates.
  3. Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in business operational shrewdness, good judgment, planning, communicating orally and in writing, business knowledge, and expertise within areas of responsibility.
  4. Maintain strong financial oversight by ensuring timely and reasonable budgets are developed, anomalies in reports or financial statement line items are investigated and resolved and that company policies regarding controlling expenses to include reimbursement and spending are strictly followed.
  5. Fully communicate with executive management of all aspects of the location's operational and financial affairs, and on all matters of significant relevance to the company.
  6. Promote and practice effective recruiting with appropriate training opportunities provided to employees and managers to achieve succession planning for available position openings and a skilled workforce to better service customers.
  7. Adapt and maintain procedures to ensure all of Crossroads Mobile Maintenance personnel are meeting all of the safety policies and OSHA or local safety measures.
  8. Perform Employee Performance Evaluations for those personnel that have reported to this position during the period covered.
  9. Ensures that the contractual agreement, customers, and pricing structure are maintained as confidential in nature, in accordance with Crossroads Mobile Maintenance confidentiality requirement contained in the company handbook, and all direct reports are upholding the same requirements.
  10. Enforce adherence of all Crossroads Mobile Maintenance employees as well as all sub-contractors to ALL of Crossroads Mobile Maintenance’s procedures and policies.
  11. Acts within the letter and spirit of the laws of the United States, the States and municipalities in which Crossroads Mobile Maintenance operate.
  12. Performs any other related or unrelated, unassigned, unspecified, unusual or special duty the Divisional Vice-President may assign from time to time.






Preferred:        Bachelor's Degree in Heavy Equipment Technology or related field preferred; extensive managerial experience may substitute.


Required:        High School Degree or equivalent.





Required:        Experienced / Certified Master Technician in auto and truck fields. (Automotive fleet manager certification is preferred.)


At least 5 years supervisory experience


SKILLS:          Must have the ability to learn and establish departmental policies, procedures, and practices. Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to interact and communicate with internal customers and vendors. Must be able to prioritize workload and shift work activities in order to meet business needs and department goals. Possesses the ability to independently arrange and organize work efforts on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. Works well under stress and maintains tight deadlines. Possesses the ability to multi-task on a consistent basis. Able to conceptualize and implement performance objectives that meet established requirements. Able to demonstrate a high degree of personal and professional ethics and integrity.


MENTAL:      Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently, knowledge of advanced math, heavy engineering and technical research abilities a plus. Must be able to work under time and budgetary pressures.
