INTRODUCTION:

This Job Description establishes the authority, duties, responsibilities, reporting relationships and measure of accomplishment for the position of the Tool Tech as assigned to that function by the Production Supervisor of Power Line Supply Company. This position is considered an hourly, the job requirements and your performance, will dictate the required hours to complete the necessary tasks with a minimum of 40 hours per week and weekend work may be required and overnight accommodations.

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Tool Tech is a technical repair position on all utility tooling reporting to the Production Supervisor of Power Line Supply Company’s Reed City, MI location.

This position is considered a part of the dielectric testing and tool repair which will require a strong interpersonal skills, strong communication skill and detailed oriented.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Tool Tech employee reports to the Production Supervisor of Power Line Supply’s Reed City, MI location. The position will also be required to maintain an open dialogue with the Account Manager(s) of the locations he/or she provides service to, customers, and manufacturers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The principal duties and responsibilities of the Tool Tech employee consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

Assist in handling materials, tools, supplies, and test equipment.

Repair of mechanical and hydraulic tools.

Assembly and repair of mechanical grounds.

Able to read prints and schematics.

Testing of hot line tools and grounds in facility and/or in the field at customer’s site.

Dielectric Testing of Insulated Buckets and liners.

Adhere to all current ASTM, ANSI and other applicable testing standards.

Assist with Tool Inventory.

Assumes responsibility for cash or company credit card and submits timely expense reports.

Adhere to all safety regulations in the facility and during transit of testing equipment

MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE:

The Tool Tech employee shall be deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following has been met and/or exceeded:

Assigned task are completed in a timely manner.

Inventory counts and deliveries at the locations served are completed at a satisfactory level.

Ensure your availability to response to Storm or Emergency work that may occur from time to time for proper support of customer’s needs.

All safety regulations are adhered to.

Overall Satisfaction of the Production Supervisor, associated Account Manager(s), and customers.

EDUCATION:

Required:        High School diploma

EXPERIENCE:

Required:        1-2 years Mechanical and/or Hydraulic Repairs.

SKILLS:         Must be able to use electronic warehousing equipment including scanners and inventory systems, computer skills, and detail oriented. Chauffer’s license is required with DOT Medical Card. Able to operate test equipment in the tool division and in the field.  Able to read prints and schematics.

PHYSICAL:   Includes sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and use of hands and arms to operate office and field equipment. Must be able to lift 50lbs. Must be able to remain in a seated position for extended periods of time.

MENTAL:      Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This person will work a portion of the time in the tool division/warehouse which is climate controlled indoors but could face extreme warm or cold conditions outside. This person will be required to travel periodically and will be required to use good judgment as it pertains to speed or overall abandonment of a particular route.
