BASIC FUNCTION:

The Driver reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and is charged with delivering a wide variety of items from distribution centers to customer locations using a commercial vehicle and trailer.

The Driver will be knowledgeable in following all routes and time schedules for delivering items

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conduct inspections of vehicles and trailers at the beginning and end of each shift and report any problems or damage to your supervisor as well as appropriately logging using the company supplied method

Conduct inspections of vehicles and trailers before departing to deliver goods and report any problems or damage to your supervisor

Proficient with electronic driver logs and reports

Comply with DOT regulations and Company safety policies, rules and regulations

Pack and load products securely onto trucks according to company’s specifications

Operate heavy machinery including Rough Terrain Forklifts, Forklifts

Deliver orders timely to customers on assigned routes

Maintain ongoing communication with route dispatcher

Unload goods as per client specifications

Review deliveries with customers to ensure products meet their needs

Obtain delivery confirmations from each customer and review deliveries with customers to ensure products meets their needs as required

Report any instance of mishap or accident to the supervisor and/or incident reporting hotline

Be proficient in use of PLS’ P21 ERP system.

Acts as a representative of Power Line Supply Company in the community.

Acts within the letter and spirit of the laws of the United States, the States and municipalities in which The Power Line Supply Company operates.

Ensure your availability to respond to Storm or Emergency work that may occur from time to time for proper support of customer’s needs.

Performs any other related or unrelated, unassigned, unspecified, unusual or special duty the Warehouse Supervisor may assign from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Valid Medical Certificate
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as Commercial Driver
  • Clean driving record
  • Ability to pass drug test
  • Safety conscious
  • Extensive knowledge of local, state, and federal driving rules and regulations
  • Flexible Schedule
  • Ability to drive long hours and travel regularly
  • Physical Strength: work frequently includes loading/unloading materials/equipment

EDUCATION:

Required:        High school degree

TRAVEL:       Up to 80% travel may be required.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:        1 to 3 years of experience in a CDL driver, with hands on experience within a warehouse inventory environment.

SKILLS:         Must have the ability to learn and departmental quality standards procedures, and practices. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be able to interact and communicate with internal customers and vendors.   Able to demonstrate a high degree of personal and professional ethics and integrity.

PHYSICAL:   Includes sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and use of hands and arms, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing into and out of heavy-duty trucks and accessing stairs and storage areas inside a warehouse.

MENTAL:      Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently, knowledge of advanced math, heavy engineering and technical research abilities a plus. Must be able to work under time and budgetary pressures.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This person will work in a warehouse setting and on the road in a tractor-trailer, mostly outdoors and exposed to 4 season elements. The conditions are likely to be dirty, and dusty, and warehouse/yard activities will present hazards of moving vehicles, trailers and equipment.
